Competition Format

NERFTOUR Tournament Format:

Tournament will be on a knockout basis or Swiss system (depending on number of teams)

Teams will be randomly distributed.

NERFTOUR Match Format:

Match will be played as a combination Capture the Flag / Tagmatch.

Teams will play games of 2 minutes against each another team.

There will be a reload time of 1 or 2 minutes between games.

NERFTOUR Scoring Format

A game is won when:

1) All the opposing players have been tagged out; OR

2) Flag of the opposing team has been successfully captured (2 flags in home base)

The winner of a game will earn a point.

The loser of a game will earn zero points.

A draw may be called if:

1) Time runs out, with neither team achieving the objectives stated above; OR

2) The last players from each team simultaneously tag each other out.

A draw would split the points between the 2 teams (i.e. 0.5 points to each team).

Consecutive draws will earn additional 1 points (Eg. 2nd draw in a row; 1.5 point to each team)

First team to score 3 points or more wins the match.

NERF Marshall briefings

1. Marshalls must be fast, firm and focused, not distracted by the action, but staying focused to survey their respective zones of jurisdiction

2. Marshalls are advised to be particular attentive to rush movements by the players. Follow closely and note ORDER OF HIT. Your fairness and accuracy is crucial to the fun of the game.

3. Marshalls are required to come earlier for practical briefing.

4. Each Marshall will be issued a whistle. Please hold your whistle in your hand at all times to be ready to blow. Please note the following commands:

   1. Single short beep + pointing at affected player + shout " <color> <Number>, out!"
        This is to call a player out. they should put their hands or their head and quickly leave the playing area. The game goes on and is not stopped.

    Eg. Red 4 out!!!

  2. multiple quick beep + waving arms and hands horizontally
       This command calls a serious penalty that requires the play to be halted and all marshalls should then discussed what has happened and act accordingly.

   3. single long beep + say "point to ______ team!"
        Calls end of a point, and gives point to winning team. This is performed when all players for 1 team has been eliminated, or there are 2 flags in 1 teams' base, signifying successful flag capture.

   4. three long beep + say "victory to ______ team!"
      This command signifies end of that match and gives the match victory to a team. Please note that after that the winning team should approach the admin desk with the head marshall and sign off their victory for progress through the tournament.

5. Marshalls are to not to interfere in a match unless there is an injury or there is an unsavory incident that requires intervention.

Nerf Tournament Competition rules

NERFTOUR important rules:

1. No melee. Any deliberate aggression idientified by the marshall will result in the entire team of the offender being disqualified. No refund of the competition fee will be given. 

2. Please bring your own blasters and darts if required by that event.

NERFTOUR Blaster, darts, and accessories rules: 

1. All Blasters that shoot foam projectiles are allowed.

2. All blasters must pass safety test conducted by referees.

3. All accessories must attach to blaster. Legal test: their surface area from a single side must not exceed the surface area of a Stampede Blast Shield.

4. You are allowed to bring as many blasters, accessories, and darts as desired into the arena.

5. You are allowed to drop your blasters, accessories, and darts for other participants to pick up and use in battle.

6. If you have been tagged out, you are allowed to offer your blaster to others for their use in battle.

7. You are allowed to pick up and use darts found on the arena in battle.

8. Shields are allowed, size not above 30 by 21 inches. Shield bearers are not allowed to tag opponents, nor capture flag. They are allowed to switch between shield and normal combat, but they are only allowed to shoot when the shield is no longer held by the player.

NERFTOUR Tag rules:

1. Only darts fired from participants in a match may be considered as "live" darts.

2. Darts that rebound off any surface are considered "dead" darts after the rebound. (i.e. ricochets do not count)

3. A Tag is called if:

A. A live dart strikes any part of the person of the participant and substantially changes direction (i.e. grazes don't count).

B. A live dart strikes any attachments or accessories or clothing on the person of the participant and substantially changes direction (i.e. a live dart striking a blaster on a participants back counts as a tag).

C. A live dart strikes a taken Flag that the participant is carrying.

Exception: If a blaster is in your hands and can be used for combat, then it does not count as part of your body, and darts hitting your blaster DO NOT count as a tag. Hence darts hitting your "blaster in hand" do not count.

Note: Eg. Holding a Shield or Clip not attached to a blaster does not protect you because they do not count as "blaster in hand". So if you use just a clip or drum magazine to hit away darts, it will be considered a hit.

4. Friendly fire counts as a tag out.

5. If you hear yourself being called out, please put your hands on your head and leave the arena. If not, the referees will drag you out. If you refuse to listen to the referees, the referees may take appropriate action.

6. Please note the color of your vest and your number.

NERFTOUR Arena rules:

1. participants that leave the boundaries of the arena area considered tagged.

2. Barriers or obstacles on the arena are not to be moved by the participants. Doing so will initiate action by the referees.

NERF tournament Administration rules

Administration rules:

1. Teams are to comprise of a maximum of 4 players on the field of play. There is no minimum number of players. This means that if you want to join the tournament but you only have 2 members, you can!

2. All teams must register before playing. Please hold on to your receipt for verification purposes. Each team should pay the full registration fee regardless of number of people on team.

3. The Organiser and supporting volunteers and staff are not responsible for any injuries or loss of personal belongings during the competition. Although every effort will be made to ensure this is a safe and fun event, please remember to be wary of your fitness, loved ones, and belongings.

By participating in this event, you agree to indemnify NERFMALAYSIA from any and all litigation resulting from injury / mishaps/ unfortunate events during the event.

We will attempt to prepare an area to place your belongings so that someone can keep an eye on the stuff, but please check your stuff at all times.

4. Teams must be prompt when summoned for their matches. Any team that does not turn up for their match after being summoned at appointed time will be disqualified. A grace period of 2 minutes will be observed for the team to gather up.

5. Teams should be responsible for the loading and care of your blasters and ammo. At the end of each match, the participants for that match should attempt to pick up as many darts as they can from the competition grounds and place them in the collection bin provided.

Darts will be distributed back to their respective owners at the end of the day. The organiser is not responsible for any losses of darts. Please be fair and take only the correct number of darts home (or leave a few behind as support for the tournament).

6. Each team must register the number of darts they will be bringing to the tournament. At the end of the tournament, each team my attempt to collect their darts back from the admin desk. Please note that even though we will try to pick up as many darts as possible to minimize losses, unfortunately losses of darts will be inevitable.

7. Everyone is supposed to maintain orderly conduct and behavior at all times. Any untoward behavior as identified by the marshalls will result in disqualification for the offender's team. Also, please be fair and take only your own belongings.

8. Please remember that even though there will be marshalls to view the games, please play fairly and responsibly. If you are a hit by a dart, please call yourself out and leave the playing area.

9) A player may join as many teams as they like!!! the rule is as follows:

    Scenario: Player A joins both team 1 and team 2,
                   If team 1 and team 2 meet, Player A is not allowed to play.

10) No need to wear similarly colored jerseys as vests will be provided. If you want to wear your own team's colors, please affix a number from 1-6 on your team kit's front and back clearly and prominently.
